What is the Crystal Coast Vacation Rental Show?

According to the Carteret County Tourism Development Authority, “Approximately 15 percent of county residents work in tourism-related businesses. Each day of the summer season has a $3,431,000 daily impact on the local economy and creates opportunities for residents who count on tourism for supplemental income.” This is an over $700 million impact annually.

Big Head Presents, LLC was created to organize and present the first annual Crystal Coast Vacation Rental Show. This event will take place at the Crystal Coast Civic Center on October 18 and 19, 2025. It will showcase businesses catering to vacation rental owners. It will also feature businesses marketing to guests through rental owners. The event will provide educational opportunities for both small businesses in the industry and rental owners.

One of our goals is to help sole proprietorship businesses reach the next step in their growth. We aim to help all businesses meet prospective customers. We want to assist rental owners in discovering local resources. These resources aid them in having a more profitable and satisfying ownership experience. Additionally, we aim to provide resources for those interested in joining this industry.

All of this is done with an emphasis on local businesses.

Sounds good, but what does this really mean?

Let’s take it one thing at a time. As a homeowner, it’s difficult to find reliable service providers. It’s even more difficult if you have people paying to stay in your house. It can also be challenging if you live 150 miles from the house. Or both. Unfortunately, that’s where many of us find ourselves.

Additionally, the tourism space in the Crystal Coast has many sole proprietorships. I’ve met a lot of great people launching small businesses in this space. They hustle every weekend to provide outstanding service to their customers.

For more established businesses, the grind doesn’t end. We always need more customers. Or employees.

My goal is to put all these people in the same room. Then add some educational opportunities. Let’s also add people considering getting into the industry, either as a homeowner, or as an employee.

If you have a business in the area, tourism is a massive customer base. If you are looking at changing jobs, you cannot ignore the industry.

Who am I? I have been involved in the rental business for over a decade with my wife. We’ve been in the short term rental business for about six years. I spent many years in Facilities Management. Now, I work with our local rentals. I also do seasonal work for one of the local property management companies. I wanted to go to something like this. When I couldn’t find it, I decided to build it.
